Roseo Euroterme Wellness Resort

Bagno di Romagna, Italy

When I was invited to a weekend of relax I imagined myself by the pool sipping champagne and keeping up my reading of A Song Of Ice and Fire series. Once arrived at Roseo EuroTerme Wellness Resort I learned they had planned a whole list of activities that would keep me away from the thermal bath and into exploring more the beautiful Romagna hills while enjoying some delicious local food and getting the treatments to prepare my skin for summer.

The 2 days packed with activities started with a visit to the Museum of Sansepolcro where we checked the works of the Renaissance painter Piero della Francesca. You can’t consider yourself a real tourist in Italy without a church visit as well so we explored the little town of Sansepolcro and paid a visit to its Duomo.

Back to the resort and it was time for a facial, an oil massage, the Grotta (a natural Turkish bath) and a thermal mud treatment. By the end of all the treatments, I felt like a new person, as if I’d left behind all the stress. A Thermal Bath center is relly different from a spa in many ways, starting with the water which has health-giving properties while a spa usually just has mineral water treatments or just cold water. But the main difference that I found was in the treatments themselves. At a thermal center, they approach things from a medical point of view. So after a visit with the Wellness center’s doctor you get your own chart of treatments. So yes the facial is a facial just like in any other place, but the massages, mud treatments, and other body treatments are all based on the doctor’s assessment making this experience complete with real physical benefits.

After learning the difference between a spa and a thermal center I’ve decided next time to make sure that I end up in a place like EuroTerme, where the approach is more on the health part and not just on the relaxing part. This doesn’t mean I didn’t have my relax time. The thermal pool was opened till 11pm so I enjoyed my drink while looking at the stars, immersed in hot springs. The night ended by the fireplace in our room keeping up with my book. Overall a perfect day.
