Omega Constellation Star
Unfortunately our modern life has deprived us from the magic views offered by the night. Living in big cities with well-lit streets and buildings makes it impossible to look up and watch the stars in their full beauty. If you enjoy the magical nights of shooting stars as much as I do, you should also know the calendar of the meteor showers over the year. For 2014 the most important nights are August 11-12 with the Perseid shower generated from the Swifft-Tuttle Comet and December 13-14 with the Geminid shower which is generated by an asteroid. Every year these meteor showers intensify more and more giving an incredible spectacle and every year I’ve set a reminder on the agenda a week before the event so that I can prepare something special for that night. The December event has a larger number of shooting stars, around 70 per hour, but the winter weather lowers the chances of getting a starry night. It is during the August event that I have much more fun by planning a boat trip by night or just a midnight picnic on a pier. But we don’t have to wait for meteor showers to enjoy the magic of a starry night. Weekends are a perfect get-away opportunity and midnight picnics can be set everywhere. I’ve also read that stargazing is therapeutical, creating a sense of stillness and calm, is relaxing and puts us in tune with nature.
During Milan Fashion Week my stargazing happened looking through my Omega Constellation Star watch. I wore it for a cocktail event with a beautiful Maison Albino dress. This is a special watch to me, not only because of the beautiful design with the diamond-set basel, gold fashioned stars and sky blue dial but also because the Omega Constellation Star was designed to especially support Orbis International. Through the sale of this wristwatch a share of the profits benefit Orbis International and their Flying Eye Hospital that provide ophthalmic training to treat patents and restore sight for communities throughout the world that would otherwise find it impossible to get access to advanced cures.
