The Rose Garden isn’t in the top list of places to visit in Florence so it was a surprise discovering it while walking down from Piazzale Michelangelo. It is a little piece of paradise with amazing views of Florence and the old city walls. It is also an open air museum featuring 12 permanent works of the Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon. Every corner you turn has a surprise for the visitor like the Japanese garden ( Shorai garden) coming out of nowhere in an unexpected way in a garden that otherwise is designed in pure mediterranean style. It also serves as a maze, because I found it very difficult to find the exit, being it hidden behind thick vines of leaves.
