I wanted to name this post Under the Tuscan Sun after the romantic comedy with Diane Lane and Sandra Oh but on this cold February weekend the sun was missing in Florence. I wonder how many women have come to Tuscany hoping to find love, possibly to a writer, after having watched the movie which is based on memoir book. On thing is true, famous people love villas in Tuscany possibly somewhere in the middle of vine hills. Sting owns the beautiful villa Il Pallagio where he produces wine, olive oil and honey, all organic of course. There are many writers who live in this region, and many of them organize short-term retreats for other people to join and have workshops while exploring the beautiful sorroundings.
In Florence you get inspired everywhere you go, even though I haven’t found the poet in me yet.
When in Florence:
- Eat at Trattoria Za Za Piazza del Mercato Centrale, 26
- Shop vintage at DESII VINTAGE in Via De Conti, 17
- Sleep at Hotel Bretagna in Lungarno Corsini, 6. Situated inside an historic building it overlooks the Arno river and is in a walking distance from everything in Florence.
- Buy a villa anywhere if you want to be a writer.
