I couldn’t have imagined discovering a fashion gem in the touristic town of Merano, but that was just what happened. I met Dimitrios Panagiotopoulos in his atelier inside one of the historic building in the center of Merano. Rooms were filled with dresses and inspiration and I had the opportunity to wear one of his creations and feel like a modern Princess Sissi for a moment. This was the same day I also tried the traditional Merano dresses, a day going through the past and present of local craftsmanship in fashion.
Dimitri, the fashion brand, was created in 2007 by Dimitrios Panagiotopoulos after having studied at ESMOD in France and Marangoni in Italy and having worked for Jil Sanders, Hugo Boss and Vivienne Westwood.
I love his feminine silhouettes and accurate tailoring, that so much represents the Italian womenswear fashion. He shows his collection during Berlin Fashion Week bringing the Italian style to the experimental scene of the German city.
