OUTFIT, TRAVEL

Notting Hill

LONDON; UNITED KINGDOM

In Notting Hill there is a travel bookstore that people seldomly visit  to go through rare travel books whose pages have become yellow with time. This is 1999 and the travel bookstore is a fictional place in the rom com movie Notting Hill. A charming film set in a wonderful location in London. They don’t really make romantic comedies like this anymore, romantic, simple, sweet and as much fictional as it can get. Giving hope to plain people like William Thacker (Hugh Grant) that life could change anytime with a famous person dropping into your life and falling in love head over heels with you.

Vintage shops in Notting Hill:

The Merchant Archive 19 Kensington Park Rd, London W11 2EU. I found it closed on a Sunday, but would have loved to check their selection of Dior, Lanvin, Chanel and Hermes vintage pieces. ( merchantarchive.com )

Dolly Diamond 51 Pembridge Rd, London W11 3HG. Entering Dolly Diamonds you find yourself in the 40s from bras, gowns to burlesque hats. I spotted also some wedding dresses straight from your grandmother’s wedding day. ( dollydiamond.com)

One of a Kind259 Portobello Rd, Notting Hill, London W11 1LR. A beautiful mess. Just like in the vintage shops of Paris you need to dig to find the best surprises. You need to go narrow doors, squeeze yourself through corridors full of clothes and accessories, but it is definitely worth it.  ( oneofakindvintagestore.com)

Portobello Green Market or known otherwise as the H.E.A.R.T= Handicraft, Entrepreneurs, Artists, Retro, and Talent of Portobello. Vintage coats, hand made jewelry, antiques and fresh groceries all in the same place. It makes you think you can pull off the bohemian style, so you buy things you don’t really need but that make you happy like for example vintage records, art deco beauty accessories , and military jackets.
